Dr Theodoros Karathanasis holds a PhD in European Law from Université Grenoble Alpes (Grenoble, France). He specializes in EU regulatory complexity, digital governance and the legal implications of emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI).

Drawing on his in-depth regulatory expertise, Dr Karathanasis has gained significant experience that is highly relevant to the defense and security sectors. He lectures extensively on international law and military AI, addressing complex topics such as AI-assisted Lethal Autonomous Weapon Systems (LAWS) and the necessary adaptive legal revisions.

Dr. Karathanasis is also engaged in European security and regulatory policy, providing external expertise to the EPRS, ENISA and CEPOL, thereby diversifying his contributions across critical European security and enforcement agencies.
